"Les Barjos" is a series of plastic bones created by the french company "D'Arpèje". Firstly released in the end of the 90s, it is constituted of 40 characters divided in two groups :
- 35 Barjos that came in blue, green, yellow, pink, purple and clear transparent.
The series was mainly released in France but has been found in multiple countries across Europe.
A reference blog[1] states that the Barjos were released a second time in March 2002, however all packaging and marketing materials are referring to prices in francs, a currency retired in February of the same year. The exact events are still in need to be clarified.

Alternate Names[]
- Marto's
- Wacko's
- Les Barjo's
Legal peripeteias[]
"LES BARJOS" is a trademark filed by Joseph Benhamou (then chairman of D'Arpèje) on 20/09/1995[2]. At this point it is unclear if Jojo's Buster was used as the mascot or if an other legal dispute leads to a trial against TF1, the french distributor of the Jojo's.
A Barjos package can be seen in an early behind the scenes video of the Jojo's (02:55). Displayed alongside Jojo's merch, the reason of the presence of this package is unknown and raise new questions.
In 1996, TF1 and D'Arpèje fought in court[3] over competition and infringement issues. However, the exact nature of the lawsuit remains unknown. The same year, D'Arpèje had to make a partial concession over the brand. In November 1996, the international brand was registered by TF1[4], and a total handover of the brand occurred in January 98.
Since then, Les Barjos belongs to TF1.
Trivia[]
- Buster from Jojo's is on the package, but is not part of the series.
- Rascal (jojos), Whistler, Bubba, Junkyard, Rocky (Jojo's) and Phantom appears on the retail display boxes, even though they are not part of the series nor the brand.
- Barjot, sometimes written without the "t", is a french word to say "Crazy" or "Loon".
- Martos, the name of the grey figures, comes from the french expression "être marteau" which is translated to "going nuts".
- A second brand was registered by D'Arpès in 1996 named "LES DINGOS" (The crazies). This could be the name of the series 2, or a totally new series.
